We had an outstanding breakfast and the staff were very helpful and positive. They also provided bicycles for us to explore the city, giving us the freedom to do whatever we wanted. the location was fantastic, right by the city wall, allowing us to easily see the views from inside.
Felt like a home away from home, with the staff always willing to help and make our stay comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

Walking along the medieval walls made me feel like a time-traveling princess. The ancient drugs in the pharmacy added a touch of mystery. Cluj-Napoca, a city with two names, is like having a split personality, fascinating!
Oh, how I enjoyed hearing the noise from the pubs and bars in my room all night long! Such a joyous symphony of sleepless nights.

The location of Retro was perfect, nestled in a quiet area with beautiful pedestrian streets and quaint cafes. I was amazed to discover that one of the walls inside the hostel was actually an old fortification wall, adding a unique touch to the ambiance. Despite it being December, the hostel was surprisingly warm and cozy. The rustic decorations gave it a charming vibe, and the breakfast provided was decent.
Even though there were a few drawbacks mentioned in the database reviews, such as some squeaky beds and limited bathroom facilities, I didn't experience any of these issues at Retro. The overall atmosphere of the hostel was vibrant, and I enjoyed meeting fellow travelers.

The location of the hostel was perfect, right in the heart of the city. It was easy to walk to all the main attractions, shops, and restaurants. Plus, there were a couple of really nice restaurants just a short walk away. Another great thing was the self-check-in process, which made it convenient for me since I arrived late at night. the codes they provided allowed me to easily access the lobby and my room without any hassle.
The area designated for working was a complete disappointment. It was located in the basement and was extremely dusty with poor air circulation.

During my Christmas stay, there were a couple of things I really liked about the hostel. the location was excellent, situated in a central area with easy access to shops, restaurants, and public transportation. It was convenient to explore the city and enjoy the festive atmosphere. I appreciated the fact that the hostel offered bicycles for guests to use. It was a fun and unique way to discover Cluj-Napoca and added a touch of adventure to my trip. Lastly, I was pleasantly surprised by the small local welcome gift that was given to me upon arrival. It was a nice gesture and made me feel welcomed.
There were a few aspects of the hostel that I didn't particularly like. the cleanliness of the bedrooms and bathroom was subpar.

Outstanding breakfast with a wide variety of choices. Helpful and positive staff.- Convenient location near the city wall.
Bathrooms were located outside of the rooms, causing inconvenience and the need to lock the room each time. Issues with the bathroom lighting during the stay, leaving it dark.

Explored the medieval history on Potaissa Street, got nostalgic at the ancient pharmacy, and enjoyed the academic and cultural vibes of Cluj-Napoca. Perfect base for trips. Cons: So nice to be woken up by the annoying light in the hallway every night.
